I need to glue two pieces of melamine covered fibre boards face to face (for a router table). I assune contact cement is the glue of choice BUT my basement workshop at this time of year is only at 56 degrees and the can says materials and glue need to be at 65+ before and after glueing. I also understand that PVA glues can not be relied on for this so .. any advice? TIA

Keep the can in the house till you are ready to use it and use heat lamps to warm up the material.

Glue it and place an electric blanket on top. Presto!
Wife's hairdryer works too ;-)
There is a glue specifically made for melamine. Can't remember the manufacturer but I think it's called 'melamine glue'. It works more like yellow glue i.e. it's not a contact cement. I used it several years ago before removing the word 'melamine' from my vocabulary and it worked quite well.
Thank you for your ideas. As result terryb's post I investigated melamine glue to find out from Fraklin (manufacturers of Titebond) that the melamine glue they make is for glueing melamine to other materials NOT to itself. However, they recommended Gorilla polyurethane glue and indeed that would work so I'll give it a whirl. Thanks again
Try RooClear, at rooglue.com. I've used it on a LOT of melamine, and it works great. It's a bear to get off your hands, though.
