   Well....
   While I'm all in favor in searching out bargains (coming from New England, it's in the genes), I don't know why you would want to bother with saving a dollar or so and risk the finished product. If it works the best (for whatever application you are using it for) don't risk ruining a project by scrimping.

   Treat your work to the quality that it deserves.

   (Yes, I know we're just talking about tape, but sometimes it the little extras that can make, or break, a piece.)

   I see this isn't a real new post but.... I just had to reply when I saw this.

   There has always been painters tape, it just didn't used to be colored blue. Most all paint stores have always carried the regular painters tape, which looks like regular masking tape, with the exception that if you look insde the ring, it states how many days it will stay removable for. I even recently came across some regular masking tape at Walmart for .97 cents that was rated for 48 hours.

   Someone came up with the idea to color the regular painters tape blue, and triple the asking price. Excellecnt marketing idea.

   "artist tape' sold by Dick Blick.com and I"m sure others, isn't cheaper  (I don't think) but is so much stronger and still easy to peel off afterwards, that for any clamping job its worth any  price difference.
