Hi, I have read your book on tuning up power tools. I am currently working on my Delta Contractor Saw with 40″ Biesemeyer Fence. In your book, you say, clamp the front and back trunnions before you loosen the trunnion bolts. My question, is, how do you clamp in the front. The back is easy.
Also, when I adjust the Table Saw, do I need to loosen the tilt mechanism, and take it apart to have free access to the front right trunnion bolt?
Please help. Thanks. Robert

Robert,
Contractor's saws are all very difficult to adjust, with the exception of the Ridgid brand version.
I don't think you have to take apart the tilt mechanism, but you may have to angle it over to get at the front trunnion bolt. One bolt is usually left snug to serve as a pivot point, so if you can't loosen the bolt you can possibly adjust the saw with that bolt tight, the mechanism will probably still move enough for a small adjustment.
If you can't get in to clamp the front trunnion, which is near impossible on some saws, skip that step, just keep an eye on the fit between the two halves of the front trunnion and make sure that they don't separate while moving the back trunnion to line up the blade with the slot. Contractor's saws are a terrible design when it comes to adjusting them. Do the best you can, primarily working on the back trunnion and you will probably be able to get the saw decently aligned.
