   Thanks for the link.  I had the good fortune of taking a workshop with Alan about 15 years ago and found him to be not only a consumate craftsman but a true gentleman. Hopefully the longer video will be accessable here in the States when it is finished.

   Richard,

   Thank you for that link and for the pointer to the following full-feature film, which I'm greatly looking forward to.

   In that short film the key word for me was "understated".  I find the vast majority of studio or contemporary furniture hard to understand or appreciate.  Not so with the pieces from Mr Peters, who seems to me to be truly a designer-maker, a title claimed by many but achieved by, well, less than many.

   I wonder if there is a written biography of the man?  I just finished a biography of Edward Barnsley, who was one of Mr Peter's first influences via his time at the Barnsley workshops, as the film mentions.  That Barnsley biography was very illuminating; I would expect a biography of Alan Peters to be not just be illuminating but inspiring.

   Lataxe, Jeremy Broun emailed me and I was informed then that he is also writing a biography on Alan Peters as well as making a film. He didn't say when the book is due. I guess at about the same time as the film, ie, towards the end of the year. Slainte.richardjonesfurniture.com

   It's sad to see most all of the the Icons of our craft aging, they have truely set high standards for the rest if us.

   As a woodworking hobbyist I found Mr. Peters' work stunningly beautiful. I look forward to the full length film. His work is inspiring and makes me dream a little.
