I’ve been using a nice long wood bodied plane for jointing some boards. The area with the iron is made of metal with metal adjusters. On the “cap-iron/chip-breaker”, instead of a name, there is just a “Liberty Bell” cast into the metal. Any ideas what this $5.00 yard sale find is?

It's a Stanley Liberty Bell plane. Probably a 129 or 132. The number should be on the front. Depending on the condition of the plane it's value is around $30- $75.

This one would be on the "low" side of that range. No numbers at all, rear handle had been replaced by a cheap plastic one. Blade is still in very good shape, so this plane is in the "user' place in life. It's about 18" long, the wood body is still in good shape.
