I want to make a Virginia country Tall Clock (circa 1820) and want to purchase an 8 day works. Hour strike, moon dial , second hand, cast iron weights, etc. . Any suggestions as to where I might be able to purchase one. I know that a good one will not be cheap.

David makes beautiful works, they look just like the old ones. He makes everything except for the bells which are cast by Whitechapel foundry in Eng, where the Liberty Bell was cast. Merritt's Antiques, well known clock dealer in PA, sells his works as replacements for missing period clock works. See it here:

No they are not cheap, around $1100, in 2001, with an unpainted moondial, cast iron weights, and steel hands. (Rocking ship also available) Kathi Edwards, at the Dial House in GA 770-943-5676, did the dial painting for me, about another $500 (2002). Beautiful work.

I have a David Lindow movement and will purchase more from him in the near future. His customer service is top notch. I also have a beautiful dial painted by Kathi Edwards.
You can't go wrong with them.
