Been looking for some time for wide roll paper for full sized template and plan drawings. Office supply had brown kraft paper 48″ x 900′ and 36″ x 50′ but nothing in between. Finally someone suggested sign makers. Local business forwarded me to area sign supplier, who carries “Tara Banner Bond Paper”, 48″ x 150′, 20 pound white paper for $35. Made by Tara Materials Inc, Lawrenceville GA 30246.

Go by your local newspaper and ask for an end roll or butt. It will be 15"(dinky 1 page wide) 30"( half roll 2 pages wide) 45"(3/4 roll, 3 pages wide) or 60"(full roll 4 pages wide) long or something close to that. Newsprint comes in these widths and when they paste on to a new roll they will leave 1/2" or so of paper on the cardboard core. A half roll (30' wide ) makes a great picnic table cover. They should be free, I've been hanging around newspapers for over 50 years and I never heard of them being sold.

Contact a drafting supply store. They usually carry rolls of paper for plotters. (I've gone thru hundreds of them - lol)
Don,
If you're looking for a stiffer, heavier paper, go to the local paint supply store and ask for "floor paper". The rolls we use (and get from Sherwin Williams) are 36" X 166' and I think there are at least two different "weights" available.

I use 36 inch brown wrapping paper - readily available at shipping stores like UPS and at the big box stores like Staples. A couple of dollars and I have plenty of paper thats sturdy, yet shows a crisp drawn line and cheap!
