Hello,
I’m adding some cabinets to my existing kitchen. The kitchen currently has the cheapest euro-style cabinets you can buy (plain white), and I have to match these as a completely new kitchen is not in the budget (I’ll be changing the doors to add some style and adding a crown and light moulding to finish). Anyway, my question is concerning the 32mm system. What I need to know is what is the spacing in from the front of the cabinet to the holes (32mm on centre). I’m making a jig to drill the holes (2″ aluminum angle) and need know the distance. So far I have checked the existing and they are 35mm (5/8 thick melamine)…some of the stuff I’ve read indicates 37mm is correct. So is there a difference due to the thickness of the material (5/8 instead of 3/4…I’m planning on using 3/4 by the way) or is it due to the hardware? Should I start with the hardware and build to suit, or is there a standard method.
Regards,
CC

CC, Make a 'mock up' with short sections of the materials you plan to use.
Bore the holes and affix the hinges and try the fit for clearance and adjustability.
(You may have to make a few 'till you hit paydirt, but then, it's no longer 'guess work' Stein.
37mm is usually the magic number. Remember the cup hinges have a fair amount of adjustability built in on 3 planes.
