My 18 year old skil saw finally shot craps. Like most woodworkers I only need a circular saw to cut sheet goods. I recently purchased an 18 volt Dewalt drill/driver. I need a circular saw and wondered if the 18 volt Dewalt trim saws have enough power to cut 3/4″ plywood or 4 quarter stock . Will the 18 Volt Drill/driver batteries work with the trim saw?

The 18 volt saws have enough power to cut through 3/4" plywood and 4/4 stock, but that's because they are geared to turn the blade much slower than plug in saw, and, as a result they are slow cutting and leave a fairly rough edge. I have an 18 volt saw but only use it in situations where it isn't practical or worth the trouble, making one short cut for instance, of bringing out a plug in saw.
You might ask this question at the regular Knots site to get more opinions, but I don't think I've ever read a positive comment about using battery saws for breaking down sheet goods.
