Does anybody have any experience with the 12″ Yorkcraft jointer? The comments about the 6″ and 8″ Yorkcrafts overall seem to be favorable.

Rocky,
I have the Bridgewood BW-12JS which I think is the upgrade of the Yorkcraft 12". The Yorkcraft has a Taiwan motor and Taiwan controls and I think that is the difference. The Bridgewood has a Baldor motor and Square D motor controls, but the machines look identical. I have had the machines for 2 years (bought the 20" planer too BW-120PS) and I love them both. I replaced a Powermatic 12" planer and a 8" Delta DJ-20 with the Wilke machines and I believe the fit and finish is much better on the Taiwan machines than the US and Brazilian( I have one of the old Brazilian DJ-20's) machines. The Taiwanese surface grind everything to a mirror smooth finish. Wilke sets up their machines and runs them before shipping and I have not had to adjust them for two years.
Call Curtis Wilke and ask him the difference between the two machines, they have been great to work with on my part. I bought the spiral heads because I am to lazy to change knives anymore. 35 years of changing knives was long enough.
No experience, but they are on sale now:
