I am trying to cut 1/8″ plugs from vegetable ivory. I have managed to get small flat pieces from the Tagua nut, but I can’t find a 1/8″ plug cutter. Anyone know where I can find on or other means of getting the 1/8″ plugs? I’m wary of hammering the stuff through a dowel plate but will give it a shot if the cutter ca’t be found.

I have had success using a countersink like one of these; http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=1&p=32309&cat=1,180,42240
Use a straight 1/8" bit rather than the tapered one with the #5 size countersink and retract the bit until it engages the grub screw. use the set-up in your drill press. An added bonus; keep an allen key to fit handy and you can pop the plug out by loosening the grub screw and rotating the countersink up the bit. Just be sure it's properly tightened before you drill your next one (ask me how I know this). I've never done it in Tagua, but it worked great in ebony, so it's probably worth a shot.

Go to your local hobby shop and get a piece of 1/8" i.d. brass tubing. file a couple of saw teeth on the end of a 2" piece and chuck it (lightly) into a drill press and make some plugs. After 3 or 4 you have to remove it from the chuck and pop out your plugs.
