I was working for a Wood/tool Company in Calgary Alberta when Groz approached us to carry their tools. As I have about 40 years working with wood the owner of the company sent me up to where the Groz tools were being displayed. As a paperweight the Groz #4 would be a perfect choice. As a smoother not a prayer. The casting was so bad that the blade could not be advanced to the point of actually cutting. The rest of the quality of the plane was in keeping with the casting. I looked at their 60 1/2 while I was there. I suppose there is a lot to be said for consistency..... These pieces of cast (poorly) iron resemble a tool right up till you pick one up and try to use it. On the other hand, their 6" dividers are (for $5.00) wonderful for laying out dovetails. About 10 minutes at home spent honing the points to actually be points and you are ready to go. They truly are a "best buy" for a set of working dividers. So, Dividers, wonderful buy, yes go get them! Planes, run away screaming!!
