Unfinished in my dining room

I used google sketch-up to draw the bed from a picture. It had to be modified to fit a queen size high matress and boxspring. With google sketch-up I was able to get the most yield out of the Poplar I had up in the attic. No vineers on this piece either. It is 100% solid wood and heavy too.

chisel1 chisel1 writes: Sorry it took so long to respond. I made the bed out of polar because it was easy to sand and machine. Also the price of the wood was cheaper. The hardest part of the bed was the top of the head and foot boards. The main thing you may want to consider is the size of your matress opening. You want to allow for conforters and bed spreads. I measured the matress and added 2" on the width and about 3" on the length . Then I worked the numbers out from there to get my sizing with Google Sketch-up.
