Marble Table
comments (2) January 1st, 2011 in Reader's Gallery
This started as a simple commission. To construct a side table for a large bathroom. The client had already ordered the piece of Italian marble. My task was to make it all work.
I started by making a full size mock up from scraps of MDFG to get the proportions just right. The eye is a good judge. The final piece was made from Australian Jarrah, a lovely wood to work with.
The finish is dye, shellac, varnish
I doesn't always happen, but I feel I nailed the proportions on this piece.

The proportions are lovely and it's a nice piece. Can you tell us about the joinery connecting the stretchers?
