The primary wood of this box is Padouk with secondary woods of wenge, purple heart, leopard wood, and maple.  I forged the leg structure and handle from steel.  I think I made this to see if I could.  The Compound dovetails and angled through mortices were challenging to lay out and cut, but the real challenge was the glue-up.  I used a slow set PVA and made dry runs.  Here's a trick that I learned:  put on music that you know well to begin a tough assembly.  It gives me a clearer and constant sense of my remaining time.  For long glue-ups  I recommend Physical Grafitti.  If your piece isn't in the clamps by the end of "In My Time of Dying", you in trouble.
