I could have went with the shaker style knob and spinner but the Krenovian style door catch in a FWW article caught my eye.  I integrated a positive stop into the catch.

Shaker inspired dresser with door.  Made from yellow birch.  It will be used for a change table for my daughter after she is born!  All techniques used to build the piece were taken from finewoodworking. The case construction uses large box joints which are left exposed and can be seen from the top of the piece.  The strechers are dovetailed in the case.  The bullnose mouldings are attached to the case sides using a dovetail keyway.  The door stop is a krenovian style catch which has a positive stop built in to keep the door closed and flush.  Other details include dovetailed drawers, frame and panel door and back panel.  It was finished using 1 coat of tung oil varnish.  5 coats of home brew gloss wipe on poly.  It was flattened using steel wool.  a coat of paste wax was added to give it a satin finish. There is also a hidden compartment which requires a magnet to open. The magnet is also hidden to make opening a challenge!  I hope my daughter enjoys this piece as much as I enjoyed building it!  I bet it will be a blast watching her try to figure out the secret compartment!
