Robert Bley needed a music stand when he started playing the guitar. Since the average metal stand would clash with his fine wood furniture, Bley decided to build his own and incorporated the musical theme at his daughter’s suggestion. Finished in Behlens Woodturner’s Finish, the piece is crafted from curly and bird’s-eye maple, cocobolo, wenge, tulipwood and zebrawood.
Seemingly identical to the Shop Fox W1844, the Grizzly G0785 collected a few less chips in our test—but was still roughly average among the five small models. Emptying was easy, thanks to a bag that stays in place on the canister while you operate the band clamp, which also works well. Both units hang well on their brackets.
These clamps are as premium as their price is, but they're worth every penny. A few staffers have a small collection and they're almost always the first clamp they reach for.
