Gary Junken
A mortise angled at 5° works well for single fixed wedges, allowing each side of the tenon to flare outward to create a dovetail of sorts that locks the joint securely. Minneapolis woodworker and artist John Nesset starts with a simple drawing to determine how much the mortise wall should be offset on each side to make room for the wedge.
