I call this wood sculpture “Discarded”
I call this wood sculpture “Discarded” because it was made of some discarded pieces of wood some of which I got from a scrap bin. This is appropriate because it represents a number of people groups in our country that in our history were discarded and considered less than fully human; for example, the african american slaves, the american indians, ther japanese during WWII, the italians in New York who could not own land, the irish and the latestes people group the unborn children who are discarded in abortion. The unborn children are represented by the cedar two by 4 which was carved into a fetus. The colored exotic woods represent the other people groups. One million babies a year are discarded in America…what a price for convenience.
