A letter box
comments (3) September 30th, 2011 in Reader's Gallery
Here is my project. This is a letter box. Took me about a year to design and make it. All work done by hand tools including hinges and long dovetails in columns. As you can see crazy attention to details, on fretwork, feet and handle. Materials are mahogany, pair wood, copper and brass for initials. I saw the box for the Royal Wedding well mine is even better lol.

The sides are multiple made out of 2 saw cut mahogany veneer sheets. Every single element was cut by hand scroll saw, filed and the edge was cut by a very sharp Japanese one bevel knife. Then filed again a little. I couldn’t take a risk on router the side is about 4 mm thin.
