Surface close-up

First ever woodworking project, started after our "swedish" table failed to weather well.  i took the table shown here and modified it to be larger and a square shape, plus allow for an umbrella in the center.

Table is all cedar.  4x4 fence posts w/ tennons for the legs, 2x4 frame w/ corner braces.  Surface slats are all 2x4's, joined with biscuits to 2x6 surrounds.  A few mistakes here and there, but overall, a great learning experience and a satisfactory result.

Next up:  building a corner bench to provide half the seating.
