This bronze signalling cannon (antique from a galleon) was in need of a carriage. The owner, a magistrate / honorary doctor of soil science/ and generally really knowledgeable colleague, fires it using a magnifying glass mounted on a sun dial to ignite the fuse and packed black gunpowder.

The carriage is made exclusively of sapele with custom self-made brass fittings.

Thanks to Dr. R Young for letting me have a crack at this one (and instilling some fascinating history into my otherwise empty cranium!), and also Gwen Jenkins for the fantastic photography.
