Oink, Ollie, Ubercow and the Bird
comments (1) February 17th, 2010 in Reader's Gallery
I am a disabled Sheet Metal Worker that just started to get into woodworking. When on a fixed income I had to get creative about how I got my "wood fix!" I became a member of Freecycle. Freecycle is a Yahoo group that promotes recycling as opposed to stuff ending up in the dumps. Oink is a pig I carved for my daughter out of scrap lumber from Freecycle. Using more of the Freecycle recycled wood I then carved Ubercow for my other daughter and Olli the elephant for a friend. The bird (I didn't name her) I carved for my wife for Christmas from a piece of furniture that was being discarded on the side of the road. I used the rest to make other stuff.
