Wedged through tenons on sides.
Through tenons on top.  Old section of beam split in half for the top.  Turkish plate on top to make it look better and hide a water ring.
Three quarter shot.

Made from old white oak barn boards.  No electricity used to make it except for the light bulbs. Brace, chisels, hand planes, hand saws, scrapers, hide glue, walnut stain from black walnuts shucks, shellac and bees wax with Venice turps.....and sweat.  I'm not usually such a purist... it was just a personal challenge using some wood from a place I grew up in.  Seemed fitting.

Design or Plan used: My Own Design - Daniel Newsome, inspired by a picture I saw for a gong stand in a Mission catalogue from the early 20th century.
