Rock-Solid Plywood Bench
Build this simple but versatile workbench in a weekend for less than $250. And you don't need a jointer or planer.
by
Cecil Braeden
This rock-solid workbench combines the strength and rigidity of plywood with the reliability of traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery. The simple but effective design, created by woodworker Cecil Braeden, has a base of laminated plywood sections and a top of plywood and medium-density fiberboard. Unlike traditional hardwood benches, this one can be made without a jointer or planer, which makes it perfect for woodworkers who are just starting out. The construction method can be adapted to any size or type of bench. Download a free copy of this article from issue #181 of Fine Woodworking magazine.
