Online Exclusive:
Jumbo Clamp Pad

Aftermarket add-on is simple and effective

by Tom Begnal

Clamp pads have probably been around ever since the first clamp was made, but this latest version, called a Bear Paw, has a few unique features. For starters, it slips easily onto almost any bar or pipe clamp. And with a 5-1/2-in. wide face, it adds lots of extra bearing surface to the jaw, so the edges of a workpiece are less likely to dent. An optional face pad provides additional cushioning.

When placed on a flat surface, the Bear Paw elevates the clamp, allowing the handle to be cranked without interference in either the vertical or horizontal position. One more plus: glue won't stick to it. The pads are sold in pairs. For more information, contact Woodworker's Supply at www.woodworker.com or 800-645-9292.
