The carcass is made from air dried walnut and the front of the drawers is a mystery species of wood. I believe it is spalted sycamore but am unsure. The drawer fronts were cut from one piece and I was able to make a continuous grain pattern flow through the drawers. The drawer sides are constructed from hard maple and uses half blind and through dovetails for joinery. The side panels are book matched pieces of walnut. The handles are made from the off cuts of the carcass, cut out on the band saw, and shaped on the spindle sander.
Continuous drawer front grain pattern.
Resawn side panels
Top with curbed ends.
Hand cut half blind dovetails and shaped walnut handles.
I made the rear panels by resawing pieces of walnut and book matching them. I initially made a few too short and had to make new one hence the color variance in the panels.
