Salumpwet (arm chair)
This is one of two chairs I did in 2005. One of them is in the US. The other one is in Manila. I also did a three seater version which I kept and am seating on in my profile picture. The seat is carved from a 4” thick narra slab. The bottom stretchers for the seat is carved also from that slab and tenoned to the legs. The seat is carved top and bottom. The back splats are ebony and the crown and arm rests are of Philippine teak. The Legs are of Dungon (Iron wood) soles at the bottom are molave, They prevent the end grains of the legs from chipping and give the chair an over-all floating effect. All dowels are Ebony and Molave.

Wow! This is a stunning piece, both well-designed and executed. It incorporates intriguing materials with flowing shapes and surfaces on every component. It has a fascinating, organically-grounded sense about it. How could anyone be near this chair without wanting to touch it, to look at every detail, and to sit in it?. Thank you for sharing this beautiful photograph.
Benji;
I can't say it any better than Jurgen01: You have posted a beautiful piece of furniture. Is it as comfortable as it looks?
I note that you are a pro who has built his own house. I would love to see some pictures of it.
