Beautiful table. How do you combine a solid top with leaves?? Thanks.
BMW
The slab was cut to size and then into 2 pieces. Wood sliders underneath to expand and 4 additional legs at the center which hinge down for when it is fully open.
Any problems with the color of the bubinga fading?
Auston Tom
The table is in our weekend house and the blinds are kept closed when we are not there and we keep a table cloth on it unless we are using it.
No fading yet.

Nice table. Really looks beautiful. What type of finish is on it?
Do you have any pictures of the sliders and legs and how they hinge down? When you made the table, I imagine you cut it as it was make so the pattern matches perfectly when all the leaves are in, but the grain may not match when only one or two or no leaves are in. How do you get around that since it is not obvious in any of the pictures. This seems like a cool plan for an expanding dining room table.

The grain in the leaves does not match. I made an executive decision to have the table without the leaves to match perfectly and cover the table when we have that many people that we need the leaves. Last weekend we had a chance to put in 2 of the 3 leaves for brunch for 12. With the 2 leaves the table is 114" X 48'.

The drop down legs are attached with folding leg brackets from Rockler and the sliders are wood from Matthew Burack.
The finish is about 8 coats of Bona Mega gloss and satin waterbased finish.
