I live in the Florida Gulf Coast and I’m considering opening a woodworkers co-op shop. Here as in most coastal areas are big retiree and “snowbird” populations. A very large percentage of homes are rentals or too small and inappropriately laid out for the home workshop, so I think there might be a market for such a service. I was hoping those that may read and reply to this post, offer their experiences with such co-op shops or pass along any advice they feel pertinent to my potential business.
Thanks,

Depending on the demographics of your local population, the idea might have appeal.
Remember, however, that many retirees don't have much in the way of extra spending money. As such, you might need to find some sort of city-sponsored program to cover costs. And, don't forget to include a hefty liability insurance policy in your planning.
I live in the Kansas City area and our local Woodworkers Guild has a shop with access or our members. You might look to see if there is one near where you live.
You might also check out local community colleges and high schools. They some times have shops that you could use in conjunction with a class.
I would also check with any woodworking store like Woodcraft to see if they know of something like that.
Hope this helps.
