Sometime in about the late 70s to middle 80s (in my mind) FWW had an article on making a wooden box that was to be used for carving. The main things I remember about it is that it did not use hinges and the lid stayed attached. There were two pieces of wood that was attached to the ends of the lid and a brass pin through it into the box sides allow it to open and close. I think it was based on a Scandinavian design and FWW included it in one of their “best of” series…but the only one I can locate on their site says it is out of stock until May (05, 06, who knows?).
I would appreciate it if someone knows the issue number or author’s name. I built this box and gave it to my sister but no longer have or can find the article. TIA

Oops.
I've updated the page for FWW on Boxes, Carcases, and Drawers -- the book appears to be in stock now. Sorry I can't help you find the original article, but maybe one of the "since day one" subscribers has instant recall.

There is an article in issue #87,Apr,1991,pages 86 thru 89 that pretty much fits your description.Especially the hinge details.
The author is Gottlieb Brandli.I hope that this will be of some help.
