wood worm have 150 bd ft of white oak in texas, probably dead but checking
I have about 150 bd feet of noce white oak in a enclosed outside shed in texas. Today, I brought a few pieces in for a project and saw those tell tale small pin holes…….. wood sorm of some sort.
The material has been stored in an enclosed shed in the back yard. last summer, it got to 110 air temp. This did not include the temp from the roofing paper roof.
In the past several weeks, we have gotten down to 25 and were below freezng for over 24 hours.
So…. what is the chance these guys are still alive? I hate to burn 150 board feet of nice oak…. I am willing to do several things:
1) I can treat it….. (boric acid solution sounds like a possibility)
2) I have some clear plastic solar cover for my pool. I can wrap the boards up in it this summer and leave it outside in the heat….. I would think if I did it in the peak of the summer, with 100 air temp, and a sealed solar cover it shold get 125 to 130. I can puta thermometer in and see.
Any ther recomendations…. did the freeze do me a favor?
I read posts on treating indifidual pieces, but not a large stock of it.
Thanks
