Hi everybody, need a suggestion. Made 4 cherry tables for my living room lately, very happy with the result. I am now working on the plans for audio-video unit. I want to use cherry again, but also use another specie tha t would match well with cherry, warn tone, for drawer fronts, veneer or plain wood. Any suggestions?
thanks

when you say match do you mean compliment or look the same?

All,
I suggest that Imbuia can live well with Cherry, if you can select it before buying. But then I would as both of them are delightful timbers.
I made a small bookcase thingy and use a combination of Wenge and Cherry.
Phillip,
That does look really nice together and well designed and executed also.

Yes, a happy co-incidence, even the customer liked it (;). Next time I see them I will take a picture to show how it has been set off by the items displayed (old barometer in glass and wood cabinet etc) and the way the tone of the Cherry has changed so nicely as it does. I prefer not to alter the natural tones of Cherry.Philip Marcou
Hello All,
How about walnut nice dark contrast.
Or zeabrano even a fiddle back yarra for the drawers could look nice.
It depends on your taste is and how bold do you want to go.
Greetings Bernhard.
thank you everybody! I will look into those different suggestions. I had tought of walnut. I must say that I found some nice curly cherry at the bottom of the pile, maybe stain it somewhat differently to pop out!

I combined cherry with birch for my entertainment center. I stained both with a chestnut stain, which is brownish/red. Birch has similar grain, is readily available, not too expensive and is easy to work with. But, it only contrasts the cherry a little bit, so I'm not sure if that's what you were trying to do.
Would very much like to see a pic. I have been toying with the idea of cherry frames and red or white birch for panels (flat) with perhaps a bead around the inside of the frame.
