About ten years ago I was given a formula to put on bare wood that would react with the tannons in the wood and make the wood look antique in only a few minutes. I know one of the ingredients was “draino” but thats all that I can remember. Also after a while you needed to nuatralized by some kind of wash over the stuff you just put on so the reaction would stop. Does anyone out ther know what I’m talking about?

apply a lye mixture to darken the wood, when finished neutrilize with white vinegar. Darkens the wood and makes your house smell like a deli. All of these chemical treatments can be duplicated using dyes, stains glazes and toners more safely.
