I recently bought a Bosch 2 1/4 hp model 1617evs combination kit.
I now want to purchase a Jessem router lift.
Do I purchase the Jessem Rout R Lift FX which will fit my router perfectly for $200 CAD? Or should I buy the Jessem Mast R Lift for $360 + $30 for a reducer adaptor?
Both router lifts work and look the same however the Mast R Lift would fit a 3 HP router if and when I ever choose to buy one. Do I invest now or take my chances I will never need a 3 HP router?
On a related side note will my 2 1/4 HP router handle large panel bits? or am I under powered?

Actually for my 1617 I chose the Woodpecker QuickLift. I love it.
The 1617 will swing a panel raising bit just fine, but you do have to remember to turn that speed down. And you haven't got a shaper, so just remember to make your cuts in multiple passes and watch your feed speed. Look at it this way: The next step up in routers is only 50% more powerful than what you've got. So you can remove about 2/3 the wood in a single pass, compared to a 3 HP router.
If you're going to do a lot of panels, you'll want to consider something more robust, even a shaper and feeder, but you can do some on the cheap with what you've got, no problem. Just be cautious and patient. :)
With tools, its probably best to assume you'll upgrade. Routers don't last forever, and maybe when yours dies you'll want to go 3HP.
I have the Mast R Lift. Visitors drool when they see it.
