I’m taking the plunge and making my version of a “Studley” Chest. I’ve decided to use lacewood for the outside surfaces, but I’m looking to use something lighter in color for the outer door panels. Any suggestions for something to contrast the lacewood? I intend to use plywood for the interior surfaces, as we all know that things will change over time.

To compliment a wood that has a prominent figure, my preference is to use something very plain so it doesn't compete. For something light, I would be inclined to use something like a very plain maple or birch.
I recently finished a collection box for my grandson and paired Australian Lacewood with Cherry. The warm Cherry color nicely complimented the Lacewood. The box is in the subtle shape of a "W", his name is Wyatt.
Very nice work and attractive wood choice!
Thanks for the kind words!
I made several hexagonal cases for antique and new bamboo fly rods, using lacewood alternating with maple. Here's a link to some photos: https://www.lumberjocks.com/projects/79362#
Thanks ya'll! Great suggestions. Except for the spam, of course :-)
