looking for plans for a watchmakers bench……many hours of searching on the net found nothing…..anybody have any ideas, sources, etc?
also, within the past year or so I remember seeing a magazine article featuring a craft/hobby bench with a hinged top that covered the work area when closed……our cats love to help…..again, much searching but no results……any clues? thanks

I am curious to know why you feel you need a set of plans to build this bench?
Wouldn't it be really easy to look at the dimensions and features you want, and just make up your own plan from some other workbench?
why plans? I work better from plans than from scratch; also, based on ready-made ones in catalogs, the work surface is at eye level, but being quite tall, I will need to adjust some of the dimensions to end up with something that works well for me
You might want to look at S. Larose Co. , I think it is slarose.com they sell clock and watch parts and also watchmakers benches, you may be able to purchase the plans only. Also, if you are a member of the NAWCC, National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors, they have a lending library that contains an extensive collection of all aspects of clocks and watches. You may be able to go to their website and search back issues of their magazine "The Bulletin", and you may find an article on building a bench. Good luck.

S. Larose catalog arrived in the mail today; their bench is drop-shipped from the mfgr; no plans available......NAWCC is an obvious solution that I should have thought of.....thanks
JR3, try a jeweler's supply (ON line catalog) look up jeweler;s bench ,copy, print on graph paper and enlarge to what ever size required (I do it at the local library) and redraw on bigger scale graph paper
If you use 1' square grid paper t is easy to maesur actual dimentions Steinmetz
that is so easy its difficult!! great solution; many thanks
