I am making a crosscut sled for my table saw. Got as far as cutting the plywood to size before discovering that it was not flat.
Then I checked all my plywood and found that every piece had some warpage, which I hadn’t noticed because the amount was small and my projects hadn’t required precision. This crosscut sled does need to be flat, though.
Is plywood usually warped? Most of my stock came from a real lumberyard, plus a few from Home Depot. What should I use for the sled?

MDF usually stays flatter than ply, especially construction grade so I use it for all my sleds. Even cabinet grade ply picks up a warp quickly if not handled and stored properly. I store it flat and ensure the top face is covered to prevent uneven moisture absorption which seems to cause most of the warping problems.
Thanks, Dick. I do have some 5/8" Ultralite MDF. I was worried about the formaldehyde dust but I guess that won't be an issue after the kerf is cut and sealed.
