I’m looking for a good 15/16 gauge finish nailer, possibly a Porter Cable or Bostitch! Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks

I have had my PC finish nailer model FN250a (16 guage) for about 3 years and have had no trouble with it. Can't say it's gotten heavy use though. I used it last doing the trim work in an addition to the house I just finished. It does recess the nails well; leaving an indent no bigger than the nail head.
I purchased the PC framing nailer for the addition job and ran two boxes of 3-1/4 framing names through it and two boxes of 2" Galv. ring shank through it. The only problem I had was when I would put in two sticks of the 2" nails. It would sometimes jamb when going from the 1st stick to the 2nd.

Thanks for all the information that you have provided. I should be able to make a good decision based on what you have told me. Thanks, David

the bostitch 15 gauge nailer model N62FNK is an oilless gun , and doesen't leave any oil resdue on your work, check it out on bostitch website. I've used the gun and didn't find a piece of wood that a nail would'nt go thru.

for the fifteen guage size go with Hitachi.. I did and it was based on the recommendations of countless finish carpenters.. (I visit new homes all day long as part of my job)
for the 18 gauge the Bostich can't be beat.
The porter Cable is a nail stater not a real nail gun.. too often you'll need to pull out a hammer and set to finish the job that a porter cable starts..
Porter cable makes only a couple of decent tools, according to the pros who use them every day, they make a router that is really excellant (for the price) and they make a only slightly underpowered reciprcating saw(Sawzall) (the Hilti is worlds better but much more expensive)
Senco SFN40. Okay, IMERC. There is an echo. But at least we're right!

Max or Hitachi. Sencos are falling in quality, they are about on par with bostich and the Dewalt nailers. PC nailers are comparable to Harbor freight/Grizzly IMO.
Sure is varying degrees as to what nailer is the best, but I appreciate all the information.

I'm not a pro.
Purchased a Senco and like it; nails go all the way in and the tip has not marred any wood (including soft woods). Wish I purchased one with an angled head, sometimes its tough to get gun positioned for crown in the exact spot with ladders, hoses and long sections of molding involved.

Hmmm, i've never experienced this with my PC finish nailer?? I would suggest adjusting the setting depth mechanism. I do run mine off a 20 gallon tank set at 110 lbs pressure. Maybe that makes a difference??
Also, I have an Airy brad nailer. Have had it for 25 years and it still works great.

I think the Senco SFN40 has been discontinued--replaced with the SFN41XP which I have and is a really nice gun. As for those who think Senco's quality is declining--I have bought 4 of their guns in the last year and all have been great. Kind of like the Ford vs. Chevy debate---guys rip whatever guns they don't use.
