Hello All,
I was wondering what your thoughts are on iron-on edge banding verses solid wood when finishing off a piece of plywood (be it maple, birch, cherry, etc.). Does the iron-on stuff stand up to wear and tear?
I am an amateur woodworker but a professional photographer. If anyone is having troubles achieving good results when photographing there work I would be happy to pass along some advice.

Depends on the application CC. What application are you talking of? Veneered edges as you describe are very vulnerable, and I resist the technique because of that, whether it be the iron on stuff, or strips of veneer I've prepared myself. However, I occassionally get a client that wants a 'no-solid-lipping' look on furniture I'm charging out the jacksie for. Therefore, at their insistence, and for no reduction in my hourly labour rate, and with my warnings of doom and gloom jangling in their ears, I'll go right ahead and do it. The follow up visits to their property to remove parts, run them to the workshop, repair damaged edges, and deliver and install can be quite a lucrative little number over the next few years, and most clients finally agree that a slightly more substantial edging in the first place could have been lived with. <g>
When are you coming down with your camera? I've bunch of stuff to photograph. I'll supply the film. Slainte, RJ.
