There is a listing on Craigslist for a 1994 Unisaw model (36-820) with 52″ Unifence, table extension and outfeed table. They are asking $800.
Was this a good year for Delta? Also, how does the price sound?
Thanks,
Randy.

That's a good price if it is in good condition, and if it is not a 3-phase motor.
What is wrong with three phase?
"What is wrong with three phase?"Unless your shop is in an industrial neighborhood, you can't get 3-phase power. You would have to buy an expensive device to convert single-phase into 3-phase in order to run your saw.

Thanks, it's good to know. What is this "expensive device?"
It is a phase converter
The next level is here.... Turning.
A VFD will work, check out :http://www.factorymation.com/s.nl/it.A/id.198/.f?category=32
It's good for up to a 3 hp motor and its only $185 bucks
If it were 3-phase, it'd probably be less than $800. Three phase stuff around here, anyway, goes at about 80% of single phase.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
It is single phase. 3 hp 230v.
I think it was used commercially....not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
Take a look at it and try it out before you buy. 800 bucks is a good deal. That machine will be over 2 grand new.
As long as it hasn't been abused, I consider it a good thing. Mine was being sold by a long-time custom furnituremaker who was folding up shop and retiring to take care of his aging parents. Knowing that the saw had been performing satisfactorily until the day he put up the "Closed" sign gave me some confidence. Guys like that can't afford a machine that's hit or miss. It's a judgment call, yes, but still.....forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I've noticed you have posted several times about Unisaws and also about the Steel City saw.
Which do you think is a better deal....the SC for +/- $1,100 or this saw (assuming it checks out) for $800?
Thanks,
Randy.
"Which do you think is a better deal....the SC for +/- $1,100 or this saw (assuming it checks out) for $800?" That's exactly the decision I was faced with (well, almost exactly -- the Unisaw I bought was $750). If my budget hadn't been seriously squeezed by sudden computer expenses, I probably would have gone for the Steel City saw -- new well-built saw, long warrantee, great technical support. However, that's not saying the SC is a better saw than the Unisaw. I have no way of knowing whether that's true.
There's also the question of what kind of fence you prefer. The Unifence has a big fan club, and it has its detractors. From everything Sarge reports, the SC industrial fence is a sweet, sweet dream of a fence in the Biesemeyer tradition.

Randy,
Since it was used commercially, you may be able to get a slightly better price. The owner has certainly depreciated the saw on his taxes, and will now have to declare the amount you pay him. Offer cash ($$) and see what happens. Also, the Unifence is a super good fence system and for me would add to the overall worth of the saw.
Best!
