Unisaw switch, Part 2 (Go Grizzly)
Well, poor Len spent all that time helping me rewire the Delta switch for my Unisaw (see this thread) simply to prove, as it turned out, that it is non-functional.
Off to the Grizzly catalog for a replacement, found here. Got here the day after I ordered it (wow!), but no instructions, just a wiring diagram inside the cover. Somewhat discouraged until I went back to the Grizzly page and downloaded this PDF manual. Now those are the kinds of instructions, explanations and pictures I need!!
Anyone have concerns about 15′ of 12/3 wire for this 12.5 amp 220 motor? I’m off to Home Depot this afternoon!

Not a problem.

What are you talking about? It's already evening! ;-)

Yeah, us west-coasters are always lagging behind. It'll be "evening" by the time I get there probably.
Besides the question about 12/3 for 15' at that amperage, another query: It came to me with 14 gauge for that short run from the switch to the motor. Any problem with just leaving it that way, or should I replace that with 12 gauge?forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
That should be fine. The normal rating for AWG14 wire is 15 A.

Jamie,
14ga to the motor is fine.

I bought one of the 110V magnetic switches and it had a wiring diagram on the side that was to say the least unclear.

Called Grizzly, but being a Saturday they didn't have anyone who knew anything about it. When I looked at the catalog picture, it had the manufacturer label. Grizzly had replaced that label with their own on the ones I had received. A google search and I found the manufacturer and the correct wiring diagram. BTW. They replaced the photo.
Now you tell me there are manuals... I never get lost either. lol.

The 14 gauge is fine and I put mine under some heavy loads as it went through yesterday. Humidity and heat didn't affect it either. But... I would say that 10 gauge or 12 gauge would be better if you happen to use your Uni-saw for duck hunting as it gives you more range. :>)
Just goofin' with ya before I head down to more heat and humidity to see if the jointer and planer can "take the heat" along with the old man shovin' it through. So far... so good. ha.. ha... ha..ha..ha..
