Choice of wood for outdoor dinning table, including thermally modified wood
Hi all, I am going to make an outdoor dinning table. It will be on a covered deck so minimal rain, only if some rain blows on it, and only a little morning sun. I would like to edge join the top instead of a little space between the top planks. I have not ruled out live edge planks. What material would be good for this situation? I am intrigued by thermally modified wood mostly because of its decreased movement with humidity changes and its appearance and also because it would be a little different than other outdoor tables. Has any one made outdoor furniture using thermally modified wood and how is it holding up?I live in Virginia so pretty hot and humid in summer and cold in winter but minimal sun and very little rain due to large covered area. Thanks for any help in choosing material. I also have not ruled out other more traditional materials like teak, ipe, cypress etc. John
