I’m going to go check out a 14″ bandsaw tomorrow that I might buy. Before I go, I’d like a little background info on the saw. The guy selling it says it’s a “Tekny” brand saw out of Germany. Try as I might, I can’t find anything online about that brand. Do I have the name right, and does anyone know anything about these saws? Thanks for any info.

Did he spell the name for you, or are you going by the sound? There are several German spellings that would sound about the same to American ears, and if the German company is dealing with a Polish manufacturer, it gets even more complicated.
Well, he spelled it, I asked him twice, and both times he spelled it the same. Im thinking now that maybe it's a "Tekna", which I think is now Laguna (???), but I could be completely wrong on both counts and I think Laguna is Italian and not German. But it's the only thing I can come up with that's even close.
I was hoping to find out for sure so I could have an idea what problems if any to look for when I go tomorrow, but I guess I'll have to wing it. On the off chance that it is in fact a "Tekna" is anyone familiar with their 14" bandsaw? I know it's a longshot, but I've seen the "Knotheads" come through time and time again, so here's hoping!
Ok, I saw the bandsaw, and it is in fact a "tekny", and it's German made. So the original question stands. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? Web searches are coming up blank. The fit and finish look nice, although the miter slots are smaller than standard, which doesn't thrill me.
It's a decent price if it's a decent machine, but money is tight enough that I'm going to be very bummed out if it turns out to be a piece o' crap once I get it home and have it running for a while.
Thanks again for any input anyone might have

I have never heard of it. It might be a great machine but I have never heard of it. I would ask the owner where he gets replacement parts when he needs them. If he gives a source I would call them. If he can't, I would re-consider getting a Chevy where parts and service are readily available.
Just some thoughts...
