Below the headings and FWW banner, I have less than half my screen face to view these posts. It’s particularly taxing when viewing pictures. On Breaktime I can put my cursor on the banner and move it up, giving me about two thirds of the screen. Doesn’t work here at Knots.
Does anyone know a simple way to push everything up out of the way?
Thanks,
oldfred

Two suggestions if you're using a PC:
1. Easiest - If you look in the upper right hand corner of your screen, click on the little box just to the left of of the X. That will enlarge your screen to its capacity.
2. If you move your cursor to the very bottom, does it change to an Up/Down arrow? If so, when it changes to the Up/Down arrow left click and hold it while dragging it down. From the top of the current window, do the same but drag it up.
Knots should have nothing to do with it.

Yes, I'm using a pc, and although I've maxed my sceen size I still have same small percentage of viewable space.
Curious that I can put the arrow just below the Breaktime banner and push it up out of the way, but not at Knots.
I can't do that with the FHB/Breaktime heading. For me, it's just as solidly fixed as the FWW/Knots one.

Try thishttp://forums.taunton.com/tp-breaktime/messages?msg=86500.20It works with Firefox and Safari on my Mac, and even Explorer 5.2. It's just a Java script, so unless you're using something superexotic, it should be OK. It isn't permanent - if you restart or reload the current page it defaults back to the original heading - but one click on the Toggle in the bookmarks toolbar will switch the heading off again. I've been happy with it.Dan

You can, but you have to learn the place to put the cursor. On Breaktime, it's at the bottom of the blue part, but on Knots, it's just in a white space. It's just above the thread title in the first post on your screen, and it's only about two pixels thick. Takes some trial & error, and then some practice.

Edit: It's level with the "^" box in the scroll control on the left.

Great catch Mike,
Must be from a lot of experience in here, at least a lot more than I.

Aha! There is an invisible splitter there. How did you ever find it?
-Steve
Yeah, I use a wheel mouse to scroll within the two frames. Never knew it was there.
Thanks Mike.

I am also, er, space-challenged, monitor-wise. The first thing I do on these boards is clear off some real estate so I can actually see what's going on. I just figured that what works on Breaktime must work on Knots as well, since it's the same software program running both boards.
After a few failed attempts, I was able to get the thing to move.
Glad I could help.

Thanks! I've tried to do that many times.
However, I can only get it to work at the upper edge of the left scroll bar.
Are you in Basic or Advanced view? Does changing it make any difference, which I doubt? I get the same results as Steve.

Hey oldfred I think I know what your asking. Since I don't have this issue, I tried changing a couple of things to replicate what I think is the problem. Even when at full window size, the top header occupies a large portion of the upper screen. I was able to replicate your issue by changing the desktop resolution down to 800x600 and it increased the banner very large and did what you indicated. You could try increasing the resolution of your desktop to 1024x768 or better and it will help. The ability of your monitor will dictate how high a resolution you can go. To change it if you are using windows 2000 is right click in an open area of your desktop and go to settings. In the lower right area is screen size. If you are set to 800x600 try sliding the bar to the right and increasing it. Click ok, and it should prompt you that it will change and if it does not work it will go back in 15 seconds. If it appears ok then click ok and you have a new crisper image. Note that with higher resolution you get smaller fonts. If you have vision issues this could be an issue. The font size and icon size can be adjusted but is more involved. This is an easy check. It may not solve your problem, but should not do any harm. If you don't like it, put it back. Good luck.
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
Oldfred,
Right click on the frame with the post and you'll get a menu. Move your cursor over "this frame" and select "show only this frame." For photos, move the cursor over the partial image and right click. Select "view image." The "back arrow" of your browser will return you to where you were.
lwilliams,
Thanks for the post.
I right click and get a menu, but not with the options you list.
Doing something wrong.........

I think the options that Larry mentions are browser-specific. They're not there in Internet Explorer.
-Steve
OK, Thanks.
Oldfred,Steve's right. I just tried IE and the menu is completely different. I'm using Firefox. Sorry about misleading you.
Hey, Thanks for the try.
Being able to push the banner up is a huge step forward. ( er.......upward)
