When I was at a garage sale the other day I picked up a Porter Cable 690 router in great shape for $50. The person there also tossed in two hand planes, a no-label block plane and a No. 4 with the logo of Powr-Kraft (or something like that). Has anyone heard of that one?
I’m assuming it’s probably a knock-off along the lines of Planes r’ Us or Fred’s Planes.

Michael,
I used to have quite a bit of Pow-R-Kraft things. I had an 8" tablesaw, 4" jointer, and a 12" Band-Saw...oh, and an 8"x36" lathe. This brand was marketed by Mongomery-Ward when they were in business, just as Craftsman is a Sears brand. The quality was usually decent based on some of the junk you can get now.
Hope this helps.

A 690 for $50. Gotta love garage sales.
And he tossed in all his bits, both 1/4" and 1/2". There's gotta be about 20 bits, all in very good shape.
Guess it's about time to build something to store them.
