I am a newbie to spray finishing and to trim work. I am getting ready to replace all the baseboard and door casings in my house with hickory/pecan trim to match my natural hickory kitchen cabinets.
1. I plan on spray finishing all the trim prior to installation. I would like to use a water based product that will have an appearance similar to my kitchen cabinets (which, being mass produced cabinets, I assume have some sort of catalized or nitro-cellulose laquer finish). Any suggestions on a finish to use would be appreciated.
2. I also need to finish some new birch slab doors. I would like to keep them very light in color, but want to add some depth and tone without getting anything that yellows. I was thinking of using blonde or superblonde shellac, followed by a clear water-based finish. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.
