Where in between a few hundred dollars and $7,000 is your is idea of decent? Check the new FWW tools issue for some basic guidelines.
Blue,
I agree with Rick: what is your budget for a spindle sander? Also, do you have room for a floor model or are you looking for a benchtop version?
Earlier this year, I purchased the Jet JBOS-5 after looking at several options. I'm satisfied with it; table is large enough for the things I do and dust collection is good.
I attached a photo of a storage cart I built for the spindle sander and my 12" disk sander. The offset puts both tables at the same comfortable working height.

If you are looking for a production model go for one of the big boy's. But if you're like me a weekend woodworker then may I suggest the Ryobi. Pick one up for 99.99 at the local big box. works like a champ.

It looks like I need to clarify myself in regards to the spindle sander. I have a small shop. Most of my spindle sanding is on small projects with curves. I still like a machine with some weight and power. Bench top is fine because I usually weld up a stand like I have for my three other sanders .Delta 1" belt w/disk. Delta 31-460 4" belt w disk (too small and light for any practical purpose). Grizzly 6" with disk G-1260, good machine but needed tuning for accuracy. I have looked at the Jet bench top but the 3" spindle is extra, and others who have bought the machine, some have had probems with table allignment and being square to the spindle.
I have a ryobi and it nothing but trouble. It has two belts that need replacing about every 3 hour of use. Time consuming and inconvenient.
I am interested in the Grizzly G1071.
Has anyone had any experience?

On my Jet, the table was dead on out of the box and remains so. If I had it to do again, I'd still buy the Jet.Bill Arnold - Custom Woodcrafting
