My son wants a wooden sword.
I found a piece of 2×1.25 stock and cut a diamond shaped taper with the bandsaw but it just wasn’t right. So took out my small block plane (which I hardly use) and started shaping.
My son said “Cool” (I’m thinking great – he appreciates older methods and he’s only twelve).
Five minutes later he sees how hard I’m working and says, “You should use your electric planer.” 🙂
From the mouths of babes…

PS I’ll post pics when it’s done (now I have four projets in process…)
Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chalk, cut it with an ax.

If you have a 30* bevel router bit, that works well, too. You still have to shape the tip.
