I read an article in FW a month or so ago about a do it yourself guide to spalted maple. Well, I left the magazine out and my favorit canine has enjoyed the issue as an after dinner mint. Needless to say I need another copy of the article but I don’t want to pay to do the on-line archive. Anyone have any ideas? No, I can’t get rid of the dog.
Thanks

Don't know abou the FWW article, but I've had this Dept. of Ag article on Producing Spalted Wood bookmarked for awhile. Can't vouch for it, haven't tried their ideas.
Thanks forestgirl. I have some maple that I can "sacrifice" so I think I am going to try it. Wish me luck!
I do wish you luck, DT. I have a pile of big maple logs in the yard I was hoping would spalt (big tree came down across the street), but Mother Nature's not cooperating. Love spalted maple!
There's a lumberyard that occasionally has some spalted Alder, a humorous concept. With Alder, there's a very fine line between spalting and rotting, LOL!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Interesting article, thanks. I'll have to give it a try.Timberwerks Studio Blog
